Barclays + Loan

Hi All,

I am thinking of closing my Barclays bank account as I want to open an account with my boyfs bank so we can open a joint account a lot easier, I have got a Barclayloan with them, which i guess they offered me because I banked with them so my question is if I chose to close my bank account with Barclays will they make me repay my loan back to them early? I have 4 years left on it. Thanks

some loans from banks require you to pay by DD from a current a/c with that bank... you will need to read the T&Cs of your loan..

but why not simply keep the barcalys' a/c open; there is nothing stopping you have several a/c so you can still open an a/c elsewhere.

You don't say the details of why you want a joint a/c but be very careful as it's a lot easier to open a joint a/c than it is to close it should anything go wrong.

You can close the current account and keep the loan - you will have to go in to a branch to set up a direct debit for the loan from a non-Barclays account.
