So, Day 1 of my new life I have no debt other than my mortgage - FINALLY. :T. No savings worth speaking of either, but I own a lovely (and unashamedly impractical) sports car and have a good credit rating.
That was until I opened my post on Day 2 and saw a huge legal blah blah blah threatening pay or you go to court letter about a claim I made 3 years ago (yes THREE YEARS AGO!) now being revoked and my insurance being voided and I have to pay back the sums the insurance company have "given" to me - i.e. paid out on the paperwork provided. _pale_
Been to the FSA - tough not our problem, in law you are liable for third party actions relating to your policy.
Gone to the FOS - no response 6 week delay on such issues
Written back to the lawyer saying can't pay it in one amount now what
Answer - what can you pay us .... oh and by the way you owe the fees we are due from the insurance company who instructed us, cough up for that. Cheeky whatsits
So now I find myself negotiating a 0% unsecured loan with the  insurance company to repay the monies provided by them to repair my house - as although I have in writting from the ins company it was not MY doing I am legally responsible for the stupid idiot who put in improper paperwork, subsequently picked up in an audit. And I have a voided policy against me now. How much is that going to cost in the future???
What I actually want in the voided policy not to be there, I have been told that legally I have to accept I have to repay, as that is the law
So managed to get replacement house insurance - as per the mortgage requirements - I cannot believe actually how less expensive it was compared to the gazillions I had stealed myself to expect. Still expenditure I did not need.
So from 0 debtand starting to get the 3 months slush fund money in place and possibility of a holiday next year, to literally THE NEXT DAY back is blasted debt again .... and not even that I have been spending the stupid money on stupid things. And I am talking THOUSANDS ..... taking about 5 years to pay back if they accept the monthy payments I have proposed.
 totally unfair
How gutting is that? So all the careful budgets I have done are for nothing, all the overtime, cost cutting, no holidays for 3 years, spending payrise on car (via 0% finance), and so on so I can be debt free - wasted because of a third party putting in dodgy paperwork. The law is an !!!.
Rant over for now - and before anyone says it - no I will not sell my car. they don't make her anymore and I spent years saving for one, and no this is not the forum for details of the insurance case, as it clearly is still being considered.
Bright ideas welcome
