I have always put forward a case for making overpayments as I do this myself. I was lead to believe that this would qualify me for a payment holiday. Perhaps I am wrong when terms and conditions are revised and interpreted to suit the lender's point of view .
There have been many posts where mortgage consumers have been told that they will be credit scored if they try to borrow back their overpayments. And that the money may or not be granted depending upon loan to value considerations.
I started my mortgage history with an offset ( the only one I could get). I may finish it with one, if flexibility is undermined by terms and conditions that are changed or re-interpreted at a later date
