Frozen Chicken Since Jan Will It Still Be Ok ????

I have just got a whole chicken out of the freezer to defrost tonight so i can slow cook it tomorrow but the date on it is 20th Jan, I know it was put in the freezer before that date as we brough 2 as they were on offer, will it still be ok as its been frozen for 3 months

Yes, absolutely. Assuming it was absolutely edible when you put it in the freezer, it should be fine. I don't take much notice of the "freeze and eat within 1 month" notice on most foods, though I did recently discover a pack of salmon at the back of my freezer which i will be throwing out - the date... June 2005...

Yes, it will be fine. Make sure it's thouroughly defrosted, and remove the giblets!

yes it will be fine to use - I dont go by use dates ..as long as I freeze things when I get them ...last night we had sirloin steaks that have been in the freezer for about 15 months - I cut them into stir fry, marinated them and they where ok.

So long as it is this January it will be fine, stuff keeps for absolutely ages in a freezer, the biggest battle is generally "freezer burn" and even that is cured by using a slow cooker. Enjoy your Chook and make sure the "Gilberts" are removed.
