hi all
yesterday received a letter from "CRAPQUEST" threating legal action if i donnot pay for a "debt purchased from abbey" balance due £1508.00 .
OBVIOUSLY CQ BOUGHT BULK DEBTS FOR PENNIES WITHOUT CHECKING DETAILS.
this debt was included in my bankruptcy order in nov 2006 .i was discharged in sept 2007.
this was a very stressful time for me and decided to go bankrupt as my circumstances changed which meant i could not pay my creditors and was making myself ill. after bankruptcy i thought i was free of those debts and had learnt a very hard lesson never to get in debt again. even though i have read many horror stories on websites about CQ AND HL LEGAL apparentely they are the one of the same.
do i ignore them? i have e-mailed a couple of help lines for advice and i am also going to send a copy of this letter to the official receiver who dealt with my case. but would like to hear advice from any one who is going through the same thing many thanks

you are still free of these debt it is just that capques is trying it on hoping that you will be gullible enough to pay something back when you have no debt ..... you have been dsicahrged form your debt in sept 2007 and as such it is not your responsability anymore.

tell them to get lost and put their demand where the sun doesn't shine .......

adn make a complaint ot the OFT regarding their practice.... have you clean your credit file ?

Barclays did exactly the same with me a few years ago....as long as the debts were included in your BR (which they would be) crapquest can go take a long walk of a short pier....they stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting ANYTHING...contact the OFT as well they'll help

    Hi,

Dont waste your money on a solicitor.

Report them to the OR and write a letter to Crapquest headed 'formal complaint' and tell them if you are not satisfied with their response then after 8 weeks you will report them to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). FOS are incredidibly slow to do anything but the threat should be enough as it costs the creditor more than £300 whether they are guilty of anything or not, its an immediate charge to the creditor which is how the service is financed.

Far better to cost them than you !;):D

Crap Quest, really are a bunch of northern w******. No offence to Northerners in general. I mean, I'm due to visit Blackpool in October '09: love the atmosphere.

Had it out on the phone with them last November. Thought they could threaten me with bankruptcy: but I soon told them where to go.

Ooh they're soooo un-professional. No doubt, they can't even spell the word.
