Child benefit gone into old bank account

Hi,
Hubby and I were made bankrupt on 2nd July, opened a new bank account with coop and changed everything over or so we thought. When I spoke to the child tax credits they told me they would inform child benefit too. My tax credits have gone into the coop but my child benefit has gone into my old account which is overdrawn to the tune of £1000. Child benefit have said they can't recall the payment. Is there anything I can do?
On the other side of the coin, although I had cancelled all my direct debits, on the 6th July my sky bill went out of my old bank account for £60, do you think I should just leave things as they are or speak to the OR about the child benefit. The thing is, we are going to be really short now this month.
Thanks.

speak to the OR about the child benefit, i had the same trouble as it now takes a month to switch child benefit where it used to be done straight away before.
i called the bank first and they said they wouldnt release the payment so i phone the OR and they rang my bank and released it within an hour,If you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
its your childs money not yours so they cant keep itIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0

In fact the bank have no right to any money that went into the bank after the date of the bankruptcy order. Show them your bankruptcy order and ask for the money backHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

And what about the sky payment that went out? Do the bank have the right to demand that back or is it just tough luck on them seeing as they would have been told that poodle34 had gone bankrupt?0

If poodle cancelled all her direct debits I'd say its the bank's problem if they let the payment go through.

ahh but they could claim it back and poodle would then owe sky as she has not provided a suitable paymentHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

But she's BR so wouldn't owe sky either unless she wants to keep her account (which seems unlikely as she originally cancelled the direct debit in the first place).

The child Benefit department are the biggest bunch of f*** wits i have ever come across, they couldn't be more awkward or uncooperative if they tried and they hire the most obnoxious help line staff that refuse to help when you get through to them, before long they will be highlighted on some watchdog type program on the TV for their sheer incompetence you wait!!0

The only times I have had to contact CHB (I think only 2-3 times and my kids are 17&18 now!) they were always efficient and quick. Perhaps I was just lucky!

Blimey you were lucky then!!..i've had to make a reclaim for my son for reasons i wont go in to but they have all the info they need and have so far take three months to process the claim and still no payments received they are totally unnecessarily long winded it beggars belief and their so called help line is nothing of the such....when you phone them to ask how your claim is progressing they wont look in to it as they say they don't do this anymore because it adds to the processing time on other claims.....ehh go figure????

Seriously five minutes on the phone to those people and your head butting the wall in sheer frustration at the end of it all!!0
