I generally have an iron stomach and can eat things well past their date, but amnot sure about my chicken stock.
One sunday I cooked the chicken.
The following Sunday I made the stock, and put it in the fridge.
I forgot about it.
It is now at least one and I think two weeks since I made the stock.
If I make soup out of it today will I make myself ill? (I'm suspecting the answer is yes but it hurts to throw it away.) It seems to smell OK.

I hate throwing food away, but I think in this case I would. Food poisioning is such a horrible thing -its maybe not worth the risk?0

I wouldn't eat it, I am quite lax about sell buy and use buy dates but it's a risk.
I know it's a shame but if you are ill all week and can't work you will be losing more money than throwing it away.0 -
Yeah, I guess. Wish I hadn;t forgotten about it but have been working inLondon on a short contract, getting home at 8.30pm or later, and it slipped my mind completely (even though it is there in the fridge looking at me every time I open the door!) Think I'll chuck it cos I really do think it has been three weeks since I cooked the chicken, so it's two weeks since I made the stock. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I'm pretty lax about this sort of thing too,but I wouldn't eat chicken stock this old.
I always get my stock in the freezer asap.I freeze it in roughly half pint portions.0 -
I have no room int eh freezer! I was going to make soup and eat it that same week, but forgot. Never mind. Got loads of meals out of the chicken anyway. :j
