am I going to give myself food poisoning?

I generally have an iron stomach and can eat things well past their date, but amnot sure about my chicken stock.

One sunday I cooked the chicken.

The following Sunday I made the stock, and put it in the fridge.

I forgot about it.

It is now at least one and I think two weeks since I made the stock.

If I make soup out of it today will I make myself ill? (I'm suspecting the answer is yes but it hurts to throw it away.) It seems to smell OK.

I hate throwing food away, but I think in this case I would. Food poisioning is such a horrible thing -its maybe not worth the risk?

I wouldn't eat it, I am quite lax about sell buy and use buy dates but it's a risk.

I know it's a shame but if you are ill all week and can't work you will be losing more money than throwing it away.

Yeah, I guess. Wish I hadn;t forgotten about it but have been working inLondon on a short contract, getting home at 8.30pm or later, and it slipped my mind completely (even though it is there in the fridge looking at me every time I open the door!) Think I'll chuck it cos I really do think it has been three weeks since I cooked the chicken, so it's two weeks since I made the stock.

I'm pretty lax about this sort of thing too,but I wouldn't eat chicken stock this old.

I always get my stock in the freezer asap.I freeze it in roughly half pint portions.

I have no room int eh freezer! I was going to make soup and eat it that same week, but forgot. Never mind. Got loads of meals out of the chicken anyway.
