They showed a tiny clip for next week's programme, and it seemed to be a couple cooking a big chicken, eating the breast meat & then saying that the rest of it would be thrown away? THROWN AWAY??? My husband spent the next 10 mins almost needing therapy. He kept saying 'but it's still got both legs on, what about the wings? Then there's all that meat underneath, and there's still enough left on that breast to do my sarnies for tomorrow,....etc, etc.....
My in-laws used to strip off all the breast meat and then throw the rest - and I was seriously unimpressed as they were always struggling to cover the bare essentials, and DH and I used to bail them out when the dog needed emergency vet treatment or a utility bill came in much higher than expected

Think we'd been together about a year when I discovered they did this - they'd invited us over for a meal, and I went into the kitchen to help serve (by invitation as I knew which veg the kids would eat, and how much of what to put on their plates). They'd cooked 2 chickens so there was enough meat to go around (based on only using the breast) for the three of them (sis-in-law lived with them), me, hubby, and my elder 2 kids.

I hit the roof when I realised what sil's intentions were - and DH and both my kids ended up with a leg a piece and I had a load of the brown meat from the bottom (I don't like coping with meat on bones on a plate - especially in company), then we left them with all the rest of the breast meat to use over the next couple of days while we took all the rest of the brown meat home with us for salad and butties. It wasn't until she saw them all tucking in (especially the glee from the kids at not having to fight over who's turn it was for a leg) that she believed me this was normal at my place, and not something I was doing just to leave them with the 'edible' meat :rolleyes2

After that they always passed over the brown meat (and carcass - they took some serious convincing that I really, really, wanted that!) if I was over visiting within 24 hours of them cooking a chicken ;)

hi guys i'm hoping one of you lovely people can help, tonight i made the recipe for the biscuits you can just get the dough out of the freezer slice it up and cook it,
it was really sticky?? i rolled it into a sausage shape, but when i took the clingfilm off it had stuck.
when i cooked them they tasted like flat buns not biscuits, the only thing i did differently was that i used normal granulated sugar, not golden granulated? would this make a huge difference?:o:confused:confused:

It shouldn't have made any difference  Which recipe did you use?

i know this is slightly off tpoic/programme but has anyone seen that aussie food prgroamme on the food channel, that cooks with just 4 ingredients?
    QUOTE]

Yes actually it is on as we speak! It's called "4 Ingredients" it is good for using up bits and pieces. And you can always add whatever else you have lurking. They're doing Gnocchi and tomato sauce at the moment.
Although I'm not keen on the women presenting, don't know what it is. I'm sure I saw them a few days back putting the food on their faces as facemasks!

I love the goodfood channel. No 249 on Sky (also goodfood+1) :D

Can anyone post a link to the E.G. book on Bookpeople? I can't seem to see it!!

Looking forward to Economy Gastronomy but have only watched the ones where the people tend to have a high budget.

I believe you need to be a V.I.P. Points Passport Holder - not sure it's on offer to anyone else yet

Edit : Yep, just checked the site. A search for Gastronomy doesn't find it, but if I log into my account and search again it does.

The quesadillas looked scrummy last night, going to make those next week with some avocado and tomato salsa that DH makes I think.

Does anyone remember what beans they used as I missed that?

I've made this dish several times and just use whatever beans I have.
