My electricity bill was showing as being in credit by £40, so I dropped them an email asking them if it could be paid back into my account, I was expecting them to say I needed to do it over the phone, but received an email yesterday saying that not only were they refunding the £40, but also my April payment (£23) and that from May onwards, my new monthly payment will fall to £16. Really pleased with that, great customer service too!
Shame the same cannot be said for BT, got their bill yesterday - still £20 in credit despite having a 3 month payment break, plus, they have put my DD up by £1 a month to cover the 3 month payment break meaning I now pay £17.50 a month. We very very rarely use the phone to make calls as we both have mobiles and our useage was just 68p for the last quarter, but they always say that the DD is as low as the computer will let them go. I will be calling tomorrow and demanding that if they won't at least lower the DD, I was the credit back. If I didn't get a discount for paying by DD I would tell them to shove it and just pay it when the bill arrives.0 -
OH has got a payrise, first one in 2 years, a measly 2% which equates to £441 a year and approx £25 a month after tax! Nice of them!0

Finally got BT to see some sense, they have changed my billing plan so I get billed monthly and only pay that, rather than pay their stupid inflated prices, they are also sending the credit back to my account! Man on the phone was rude, but aren't they all!0

Hi IWTBF! Just looking at your last couple of posts re gas/electricity etc and just wondered if you have considered looking at other companies. We are with EDF and our DD for gas and electricity is about £26 each, and usually we are well in credit for our gas (we let it build up a while and get a big lump sum back every now and then. We got £200 back last summer
)

Yeah, British Gas have always come up the cheapest when I have done price comparisons!
OH got paid today, he got an extra £200 which I imagine is a combination of his small pay rise and his first lot of overtime. Transferred it straight into the savings account which takes the balance over £6k! I have never had that much money before saved, its ace!0
