edited 29 July 2009 at 9:31AM in It's gone, but was it any good?
Best offer i have seen so thought i would share it. Right i rung up to try to get a better deal as an existing Sky customer as i read others got sky+ for £29. I got throught to a woman who after i said i wanted to cancel (you must say that or you wont get any good offers). (Just to add i was definately thinking about cancelling). Anyway, she offered me a reconditioned sky+ box for £29 plus £30 installation and despite me pushing that was the best i was offered so i said i would talk to my OH and ring back later . She was going to add a note on my account about what we discussed which was a worry as i wanted a better deal.

I then rung back 20 mins later and due to the note on my account had to say that i rung to cancel earlier and looked into it a bit more and could he confirm a bit more about the sky + Hd offer, which i did not want but it just got the ball rolling. He then explained it and i then asked "as i had forgotten" what the best deal for just getting the sky+ box was and he said well, we can get you the box and installation both for free but there is about a months wait. I obviously snapped that up as soon as he said it. So Sky+ for free!

So just want to say that if you don't get what you are after ring back later as they all seem to have different offers. It's like a lucky dip so worth a try!:D

What a shame. It will probably be easier to get when your contract is up.

Got through to cancellations yesterday. Got Sky+HD free plus free install (Monday). Asked them why all the offers were for new customers and went from there. Asked if I didn't get offers because Virgin was not a contender ( no competition from Virgin, live in the sticks) Very pleasant guy. Only got minimum package from Sky.

I may try this as my sky has stopped working-I think theres something wrong with the box.I've had it since 2001.I really can't afford to get them out to repair it, so if I give this a try and t works that'll be a result-thanks.

Could you confirm that if you do get the box and installation for free you still have to pay Sky a monthly subscription of, I think, £10 for the Sky+ box?

    Many thanks

There is no subscription charge for the Sky+ box but £9 something monthly for the Sky+HD box.

 Still have to pay £9.75 + VAT

I was offered £30 to get HD box and they also offered to pay off my BT line rental for £9.75 per month for 12 months only. The only thing with SKytalk is that they charge for override numbers like 18185:money:
