IF then everything is as you say your house etc will be fine NOTHING would be touched (thought if your XOH had paid anything into the house then the receiver once bankrupt "could" argue your ex had an interest in the house...but seeing as thats not the case they it'll be fine)

Nobody should come running to you chasing debt...as others have said nothing is a joint debt so wont have any effect on you...or indeed your CP

Hi Kerrygal, the OR updated their guidance a couple of years ago so that Civil Partnerships are treated in exactly the same way as marriages. If you have no joint debts then you wont be liable for any of hers and if the house is solely in your name then it is not included in the bankruptcy unless she contributed to it (although you have already said that she didn't).
Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

my partner paid nothing towards the running of the house, i was responsible for bills, mortagage etc etc. She opened up a shop and unfortunately it just made enough to keep ticking over and pay a small wage. I just dont know how i stand with us doing our civil partnership, i dont know whether i am liable for her debts as a partner eventhough we are no longer together and she is living with her parents.
She has recently told me that she is going to have to go bankrupt and i just wanted to have a few things straight in my head.

    Thanks for your help

Kerry, it makes no difference, civil partnership or marriage, you're never responsible for the other persons debts.

As said above, as she never contributed to your house it will not be effected at all, and there's no reason whatsoever for her to even mention you, or your house, on her bankruptcy forms.

I would have thought if they were in a civil partnership then the partner would have an interest in the house just like a married couple.
