'Burglary pack' to secure your property incl discount voucher

This was an 'advert' in our local neighbourhood watch leaflet:

The Home Office has pit together a useful pack of information about securing your property against burglary. You can order your home pack by calling 0800 456 1213 and quoting ' burglary pack'. Those who order the pack will also receive a discount voucher for home security supplies ar a major DIY retailer.

I have just ordered mine so no idea what is included but nothing lost really as it is a freephone number as well.

But where are they saying that it has to do with house alarms?

My house has an alarm but I am happy to receive advise which could deter a burglar. I also have window locks etc...I lock my windows when I go out, even for 5 mins.

Most of it is common sense, but still happy to receive the pack.

If a burglar wants to get in, they will get in but if it is a choice between my house and someone elses...cause I have taken precautions, he/she might not chose mine to empty.

I think the discount is 10% off at B&Q.

This was in the press a few months ago. The then HS Jacque Smith launched it to help reduce crime rather than put more Police on the beat.
