... in thinking that I can sue my bank for the significant distress and inconvienience they have caused me and my wife as a result of them bouncing payments when I was well within my limit?
The facts are not in dispute and they have offered £100 but frankly that is derisory.
Any help or view welcome.

You may be able to sue for any consequential monetary loss you suffered, but it would have to be a substantial amount to make it worth your while.
Trying to put a price on distress and inconvenience is not easy. Litigation is costly, distressing, time consuming and a favourable result is never guaranteed. If you lost you could end up financially worse off.
Another poster on this site claims he received £250 from his bank due to the inappropriate actions of one of their employees. Why not contact bank, say you acknowledge their efforts to recompense you but believe £250 would be a more appropriate sum.
Don't be too surprised if you hear from other posters saying £100 is more than adequate. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
My account went overdrawn due to a "technical error" by the bank. (BOS)
They charged twice for one item.
They got in touch to say we were overdrawn and that £35.00 overdrawn fee + £28.00 unauthorised would be taken from our account.
After speaking to them on the phone for some 20 mins, they told us to go back to the company and ask them to refund us the £63.00!
My wife did go back and was told she was the 5th person this had happened to.
The bank now are saying no charges will be taken as it was there fault.
Is this right? The shop was over ten miles away,we have suffered stress & inconvenience.
The bank seamed to have no worries charging us £63.00!0
