Collecting loads of Tesco points

Hi

I'm sure this question has been asked before but the Tesco threads are huge so, at the risk of annoying some folk on here I have started a new thread!

I have read with interest about how some people have used clubcard points to get discount on Virgin holidays. They seem to have collected quite a few points over a considerable length of time. I understand how you can boost your collection by getting special points offers etc, but what I can't understand is how you can accumulate lots of points over a lengthy period of time. I get sent mails from Tesco's regularly with small amounts on. How do I roll them over so I can collect a reasonable amount? Do these smaller amounts that I get expire or can I keep them for a while before exchanging them for vouchers? Or do I have to convert them to vouchers quickly and then keep lots of those? Or is there some other way of doing it?

I hope I have made sense with this query, because I'm not really sure how to explain my problem.

Your points are automatically converted to vouchers which arrive in your quarterly statement and do have an expiry date printed on them. Just ring Clubcard and ask them to put the points back onto your card, then the vouchers will come through in a larger amount the following quarter.

Can I keep putting them back on the card indefinitely?

    Thanks

People seem to buy vast quantities of products with on offer with extra points. I fear they are not properly taking into account the amounts they spend when calculating their savings.

I understand what you are saying. My intention would be to use Tesco where there is a saving to be made, not just for points. I would buy the bonus items if I had a use for them, butu my main problem is that I would like to save up as many as I could over say a 2 year period and put them towards a holiday. This obviously wouldn't work very well if I couldn't save them up over a period of time.

You can often have vouchers recredited to your account if they're about to go out of date.

Depends what you mean by indefinitely. Might be best if you ask Tesco when you ring them rather than possibly getting incorrect information on this from a third party.

I've always assumed that the people who managed to save up Clubcard points for expensive holidays have large families and can get through multiple containers of, say, margarine. I read the other day that someone bought a load of baby powder when there was a loophole on, and sold it all at a carboot! :p

If you look on the vouchers when you get them through this quarter you will see that they have an expiry date 2 years ahead so you don't need to convert them to deals until then. So you can save up 7 or 8 quarterly mailings to get a large amount towards a holiday.
