I'm going to make banana bread and have just realised I have no greaseproof paper left . Do I have to line my non-stick loaf pan or can I just grease it?

I find that even if the pan is non-stick I can't get things out if the tin isn't lined, as I need something underneath to lift it out. If you have a bit, you could line the bottom and ends, and not worry about the sides0 -
Thanks, looks like a trip to B&M Bargains is in order after the dentist!0

I've made banana bread before and didn't line the tin and it was fine. I suppose it depends on the tin.
The only time i've lined a tin is when I made a caramel cake and i'm very glad I did!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Have you got a loose bottomed cake tinCakes come out of them much more easily, if they're not lined

I think I do have a cake tin which the bottom comes out of somewhere! I also have a silicone butterfly cake mould which I got reduced in Lidl to £2.99 which I haven't tried out yet. Methinks Banana CAKE is in order! Although I have never made a banana cake ... *scratches head*...0

Use the banana loaf recipe, but bake it in a cake tin :T

I use non-stick liner which is brilliant. You can cut it to shape and wash it after use, and it lasts for ages. Lakelands sell it but I found mine in a pound shop and it is excellent. I've had it for about three years, use it a couple of times a week, and it's still going strong.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Using a brush grease the tin with butter/marg then sprinkle a little flour over. Tap/shake the tin to ensure the flour sticks all over the sides and bottom. Shake out excess.
Pour ingredients in and bake
When you remove from oven let stand for a while and use knife to loosen sides. After about 5 mins turn tin over onto cooling rack and tap bottom of tin untill it sounds hollow. Your cakes etc should come out in one piece. I have never used lining paper for any cakes and have never had a problem with sticking.
The longer you practice this you will know how long to leave before trying to remove cake from tin. The problem with sticking is to do with trying to remove the cake when it has come straight out of the oven and is too hot.0
