Get tea towels or lots of kitchen roll and trample hard on them over the spots to lift as much moisture as poss - it takes several tea towels. I then scrub with bio washing powder in warm water - the bio bit helps lift the smell and discolouration.

If this happens again, put enough soda water on it to cover the wet patch and leave it for a couple of mins. Then cover with clean towels and dry the carpet. This will prevent it staining and smelling and the carpet can be cleaned at your leisure ;)

Not very OS but antimicrobial stain and odour remover from Pets at Home does the job-about £1.79ish,a normal stain:eek:takes 3-4 squirts and its brill-no smell and no stain and will last(hopefullly)for a few months.
