debt report question

i was in debt quite bad over the last few years and defaulted on payments. i have now cleared them off. is there anyway of getting them cleared off the credit report or should i notify them that its been settled so it shows up on my report or do i just have to leave it?

Once a balance has been cleared and the account closed it should show on your report as settled (can take a month to 6weeks after closing the account). If after that it doesn't show as settled chase the creditor to mark your credit file. However the defaults will show on your report for 6years from the date of default. The closed account will show on your report for 6years from the date of settlement/closure.

i want to get a new copy of my credit report but experian is only doing a free trial i dont want to sign up just pay for the report once. i did this before online but cant find it anyone know who i can do this?

You can request your statutory report by post from each of the credit agencies for £2 each.

Or if you have already done the experian free trial you could instead consider doing the free equifax trial.
