Hi all
I hope you can help
I work for a financial services company that employ 35 staff.
In my contract it states that i will get paid on the 27th day of every month by direct bank transfer. When the 27th comes around and i check my bank in the AM there is still no salary in there generally it goes in between 12 and 4 pm. This means that i am unable to arrange any direct debits for pay day and have had to re arrange quite a few.
Various times they have paid us days late as well so i dont think they have a very good payment system.
My question is are they allowed to do this or does it have to reach the bank to be available in the AM???
Many Thanks

I can't answer your question, but I do know that it is generally understood that if an official payday is weekend or bank holiday, the payment often arrives on the next working day.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Best thing to do with all yur direct debits is set them all up for 7to10 days after salary day. Then if its late again yo wont have to worry.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
This happened to my aunt on several occasions - as it was the companies fault for paying late, they repaid any bank charges incurred through direct debits not going through etc.
Might be worth looking into, although I would agree with McKneff that if it is a regular occurrence you should relook at your direct debit dates. As far as pay days being on weekends or bank holidays, the companies I have worked for have always paid on the last working day before the official pay date, not afterwards as stated by PlutoinCapricorn. Can you check with them what their policy is?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I agree with elsien. At my comany of payday falls on a bank holiday or weekend then we get paid on the last working day before, not afterwards. I remember that this was written down somewhere in all of the info I got when I started there. As for when on payday I'm actually paid, it varies, but it's always in by the end of the afternoon. I would think thought that it's probably not the best idea to arrange direct debits etc for the actual day that you're due to be paid, as technically they do have until 5pm to get the money from their account to yours.0

If they havent paid you on the day your contract states they are in breach of contract and I would ask them to pay any fees incurred for your bank charges.0
