                    Hi everyone,
Just wondered if anyone is having their make up done professionaly on their wedding day?
I am a big fan of MAC make up and understand that the make up artists in store are independant and able to actually come out to you, has anyone used them before?
I'm a qualified beautician but really want to be pampered on my special day, not very MSE I know but hey it's only once in a lifetime (I hope!).

All I can say is lucky you!
They are much more well known in the USA and are only in select stores in the UK (i.e. Debenhams/House of Fraser etc), although they do have their own shop in Cardiff - take a credit card lol.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't like MAC but since I was introduced to their foundation I now use all of their range. I find the quality of the product is second to none, at a relatively reasonable price. You can apply the make up in the morning and it will still be on when you go to bed, looking as fresh as you did when you first applied it. The products go on your skin nicely and leave you looking flawless.
Blimey, anyone would like I worked for MAC!Bride to Be - 28th August 2010 :dance:0

I had mine done with Jane Iredale make up, it was fantastic, they are all mineral based so feel really light on your face, I had plenty on but still looked natural and it didn't even feel like there was any on there!
I had it done at a local beauty salon and it cost £70 including the trial.0

I had mine done and hated it - although we had a trial the week before the wedding, the girl turned up and caked it on so I looked like an ageing lady of the evening after about an hour's wear. Which of course was about the time when I was saying my vows.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

i would suggest you pick your make up artist very carefully
my friend had been going on for ages about wanting to have her make up done at mac or similar so for her birthday I booked her in to have her make up done at mac, I went with her and they asked how she wanted it done, so she asked for it to be fairly natural looking and the kind of thing she could wear day to day.........that is not how I would describe the end result lol she was caked in make up, it was so thick I couldnt believe it and there is no way I would have called it even slightly natural lol
So as I say, just pick carefully, and make sure they understand (and do) what you actually want Married on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 Married on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0

I have a school friend who is a make up artist and mainly uses MAC products unless you specify something else, i asked her for a quote for my big day and im sorry to say i wont be touching her with a barge pole, she wants £70 each person for a trial and then a further £150 each on the day. I am instead going with the local salon i use to get my hair done, the girl who does my hair i have been building a rapport with by going to her for regularly to get my hair done ready for the day, she will be doing my hair, nails and make up on the day. She has tailored a package for me and my daughter that will cost me £135 for the lot including trials.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

OMG Stef240377 - thats expensive!!
I'm getting mine done at a posh hairdressers that has a beautician too - less stress as I only have to go to one place! The makeup is £25 for the trial and day, and I'm not sure how much the hair will be.... probably £40ish for the trial and another £40 for the day. I was going to do my own make up, but would really like a few individual false eyelashes put on, and if I tried that myself they would probably end up stuck to my eyebrows!! I hardly wear any make up, so am a bit worried that what I consider natural looking will not be the same as their idea of natural looking, but at least I'm having the trial, so can see how I feel then!

Must admit I am torn between going to a school to learn how to put make up on (I am a hopeless tom boy and haven't a clue) or getting someone in to do me on the day as I will be so nervous.... choices choices and all depends on the ££Married the love of my life on 28th April 2011 :T

Becks, get someone in to do it. DEF get a trial first, and during the trial you will learn helpful tips about how to apply make up anyway. Chances are you will never be able to do it as good as a professional - and you should go ahead and feel pampered on your big day if that's what you want I love surprises!0 I love surprises!0

            Hi Maggie
Think I will do as I love to be pampered but would still eventually like to learn how one is supposed to put eyeshadow on properly
