State Pension First Payment.

I claimed my state pension a few months ago and they told me my first payment would be today which is my 60th birthday. Its not in my bank account so rang them. She said it had been reffered to a specialist team as is usual for widows and divorced people. They will ring me back in 48 hours. Also heard that its not usually paid straight away. Ive asked for it weekly. Anyway just wondered if any one knows how long after your 60th you get paid. Thanks.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
My pension was also due this week! but nothing in the bank so far.
On phoning I was told that the first payment will be next month, in arrears, as I requested the payment in euros.
I hope this info is of some help to you.0 -
I'm sure there is something about pensions not being due until the first Wednesday after your birthday. I'm sure someone will come along and correct that!! In the meantime - have a really good & special birthday!0

Mother was paid weekly, the money was credited on a Tuesday. I doubt Mondays being used a a payment day what with bank holidays and such, but I could be wrong. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

My 60th was on a Sunday, my first payment was in my bank on the Monday.0

I was 60 on a Tuesday in 2006 and my first payment went in the following Monday.0

Monday is the payment day for weekly recipients, on bank holidays the money appears the previous Friday.
IIRC the pension appears on the first Monday after the birthday.Trying to keep it simple...0 -

MIL was 60 on the 11th of this month and her first payment was due on the 13th (according to the letters she received) but she didn't get it. There was no payment last Monday either so I suggested she call them. They could not understand why she had not been paid and put a payment through that she should get tomorrow (including todays money) and as of next Monday it should be regular from then on. They had no answer as to why it had happened.0

Thanks for the replies. I have not received any letters telling me of how much I will be paid or when either.0
