I purchased three 2 lts of milk yesterday, I carefully checked the label along side the product and it said 'TESCO PURE 2 LTRS £1.59 PLUS 40 EXTRA PTS). I only got 40 pts at checkout though, I went back to customer service , showed my receipt and got another 80 points. Having looked at Tesco online this morning the offer is for 2x2 ltrs so my mistake I am sorry (although customer services as well!!)
As for the price in Sainsbury, there is not one near me so I use Tesco, and I agree with all of the points, the holidays are expensive but days out are cheap. My family and I did Longleat last week for a quarter of the cost , later this month we will do Colchester Zoo, plus adventure Island in Southend.
I always find these forums useful for things I did not know and can use and hopefully will continue to.

    Luck to all
my store were the same it doesent state anywhere you have to buy two bottles it jsut say extra 40 points on the labels in mys tore abut theyre not going through so cs geve me the points

for things like holidays, the base price is quite a lot above what you would pay if using cash. So I agree, for certain things a more realistic level would be double the value.
For theme parks you often get "child free with paying adult" type offers which I don't think you can use alongside tesco vouchers, so surely these also work out approximately double not quadruple value.

I imagine there are certain things which are truly quadruple value though.
I've seen theme park offers where you can buy entry for one day on special offer, but not the annual passes. We paid about £80 in Clubcard points for three passes that gave us a whole year of entry for all the family to some top UK attractions (London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Chessington etc.) plus a big discount off of anything we bought inside the theme parks, which made a big difference to the cost of food, for example.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

We took the kids to Barbados on Tesco Clubcard points this year with Virgin Holidays. We used the Virgin website to select and price up our holiday and then phoned them to book it.

We paid exactly the same as anyone else phoning Virgin to book their holiday and benefited from a variety of discounts including free child places and a cheap upgrade offer. The only discount we didn't get was the online booking discount which is hardly surprising as we didn't book online.

I'm sure there are products where it is possible to get better value/discount paying cash but my experience of booking holidays has always been that we have paid no more than anyone else phoning to book paying cash (previously I've agreed a price prior to mentioning Clubcard just to be sure).

So it looks like Tescos have boobed after all, the milk does work out free if you convert the clubcard points into quadruple the value!:j

    Sainsbury's are selling 2l for 75p...
Sainsburys seem to have gone back to £1 for the 2l bottles again.
