Changing cars

Hi,

We went bankrupt on 2nd July. Can I put our existing car in my husbands name - OR has no interest in this car and can I get a runaround in a couple of months time?

Regards,

Poodle

Have you had letter from OR to confirm no interest in the car? I'd be tempted to wait until you received that, then you can do whatever you wish to with the car.

If you can keep the car why would you want to put it in OH's name? Wouldn't that lower the value a bit when you want to sell it as it would then have 1 more previous owner?

same surname/address, so just "family car"

anyway, do we REALLY believe car dealers double-talk now?

As it is an auto and my husband only drives an auto so I would have thought it would be cheaper for me try and get a manual runaround and then my husband drive the auto. Do I need to ask the OR permission to get a runaround?

The OR will not tell you what to do with your own share of your surplus

Once you are br and your car has been made exempt, then what you do with your car is up to you. But there seems no logic in signing your car over to your OH and buying a new one - why doesn't he just buy a new one, you drive it and he drive yours? Why change the name at all??

Can he be a registered keeper of a manual car though when he only has an auto licence?
