Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

To protect your own interests it should really be whoever put up the cash goes on the deeds, however you can add your wife or a relative if you want but bear in mind they will be entitled to a share in the property.

You can put it in whoevers name you like but I would definately take advice first. If you put it in the name of a relative and then decide to sell, you would leave them open to capital gains tax as it would not be their main residence. You need to decide on why you would want it in another name apart from your own.0
