What a day today, told by the mortgage company that we are only £300 worth of arrears being sent for repossession proceedings and then a letter from a DCA's solicitors saying I have 7 days before they take me to court.....

Recovering from my redundancy and subsequent 6 months out of work, and then my OH getting made redundant too and working in construction so now only has ad-hoc work, is just so god damn hard....

If I had the money would gladly pay the DCA or at least offer a F&F bo maybe its better they do take me to court then at least I can hopefully get a time order or whatever its called. As for the mortgage, god knows what to do, major panic on!

What a weekend, just wish I knew where to turn or what to do now.....

Thanks for reading my moans

    Hi BlueIsTheColour

I didn't want to read and run - it sounds as though things are really hard. I know that there are schemes to help with mortgage arrears - have you had a look at these?

It might be useful to go and speak to CAB who might be able to help.

    Good luck to you.

Have you spoken to CCCS or National Debtline or anyone? The arrears don't sound that big to be honest - obviously this is your first priority to try and sort out. Have you made any arrangement to try and repay the arrears at all?
Good Luck and hopefully some other will have some more helpful suggestions as well.

P.S what I meant was they may be large arrears to you on the mortgage but for a mortage company they don't sound that big - I'm sorry if I offended you but I can't seem to get the words to sound right.

  • Thanks for the replies guys, and dont worry I wasn't offended, I also didnt think the arrears were that big, although clearly a problem, I suspect it may have been scare tactics by the mortgage co to get us to agree to repayments we can't afford.

We were on a repayment plan with them but cos OH is a joiner, his wages are fluctuating and some weeks we dont have the right amount of money, we have been paying something every week tho.

I have spoken to CCCS in the past but not since the problem was like this. I keep holding on to the fact that I start a new role at work in a weeks time and will get a reasonable pay rise which should hopefully mean we can get the arrears cleared, it just seems insurmountable sometimes.....

Then the court threat letter was a just too much. My Father passed away just over a month ago and have been struggling with that too, I just feel like its impossible for me to be happy ever again.

I know that's what the companies that use these bully boy type tactics want to achieve but right now I seem to have lost the will to fight...

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I am having some problems with money too at the moment and I'm seeking advice here just like you.

Keep a look out. The replies will come from the great people on here. Good luck with this. You're not alone and I'll keep watching your thread to see what advice others can offer and keep you company. Bx
  • Thanks Bicks, company is always good :D

I have always had good helpful advice from here, and to be honest if it wasnt for here, am not sure I would have been able to cope a long time ago... It's just too much right now but am hopeful the posts here will bring back my fighting side

I was looking forward to a nice weekend too, but c'est la vie!
  • Well I guess I am lucky as I have a friend who was the credit expert for our local trading standards office and she has prepared me a letter to send to the stupid solicitors demanding money from me, lets hope it makes them take heed and not take me to court, and perhaps accept a payment arrangement from me???

As for the mortgage, havent thought about that much today, watched the F1 and MotoGP instead, but I did read all about repossession on the Shelter website yesterday....

Back to work tomorrow, not looking forward to whatever the post may bring when I get home.....
  • Well so far no post, and the letters were received on Tuesday by everyone, now I wasnt expecting any responses to those but was expecting some more hassling me.....

Still getting reguar calls from the mortgage co despite me talking to them at least once a week.....
