How long for Nil Tax Code to take effect?

Just a general question - how long have people waited to have their Nil Tax code come into effect?

We went BR the second week of April (after 5 April) and have since had 4 paydays since then and still no tax code.

We have also filled in the paperwork from the OR relating to it.

Is this timescale normal or do you think we might have been missed:D

I think its up to the OR to get it in place and maybe they can get it backdated but it will only last until the end of the current financial year so 6th April 2010

all depends really as well on how busy the OR's office is....sometimes it can take a while

I thought it was the tax office that put it in place (the Nil tax code) from info from the courts.

My OR had no idea when it would come into effect and insinuated it was not under his control.

It is up to HMRC to do.

They can be tragically hopeless with these matters, so people waiting moths and months is not that out of the ordinary.

There have even been some people here where they went through 9/10 months and made it to the end of that tax year without it being applied.:rolleyes:

Hi lba, went BR 20/04/09 and only just got letter requesting last 3 payslips to start nil tax code, will send on Monday. Also haven't yet had request for IPA although been made aware of how much is wanted from me. It's just a waiting game I guess.
