Weights and workout bench

I've seen this bench http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3026380.htm
And this 50kg barbell/dumbell set:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3008250.htm
But cant help but think there must be some place better/cheaper than Argos. Also, I see that "Sports Wolrd" (also known as Sports Soccer) - well-known for it's incredibly cheap and reduced sports stuff has an Equipment Department "coming soon" (on the website) and it might be worth waiting?
Thanks for any advice.

hi
have alook in the larger tescos as these sell weights and the bars seperatly quite cheap, and at least you can keep adding to it bit by bit as you get stronger. :AForm is temporary class is permenent.0 -
I was in the same position- I spent ages looking thru' alternatives (including ebay).
In the end I went with Argos- the reason?- well you might save a bit of money, but check out delivery charges!- absolutely extorsionate (sp).
£4.95 delivered or collect in person. for exmple, most sellers on ebay charge between £20 and £30 per order- soon negates any savings made on initial equipment.

As previous posts have stated Tesco's do some cheap gym equipment, for there cast iron plates i've not see none anywhere cheaper. The bench in fairness is extremely basic, in my opinion it's not much cop. I started of with something similar but had a squat stand built onto it so i could do squats. The leg extension on these type of benches cannot handle any sort of weight so in my opinion don't give a very good leg workout. If you look about at a few other sites Body Solid and such like , they do powercages which are quite reasonably priced. But you need to be aware they are alot larger in size and would need to be in a garage or a room with a high ceiling. I think these offer a better free weight workout if you are training on your own, as they have safety arms, which is like having a spotter( somebody to assist you with lifting).
Like most products you pay for what you get, some of the sites also offer free delivery if you spend over a certain amount.0 -
Hello
Sorry to bring this thread back but I'm currently looking for a Folding Bench as I have little room to store the normal style bench, has anyone seen a decent type of bench for as cheap as possible?"I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre
