I go there to buy my meat and fish and washing powder. Picked up some season items fairly cheap but all depends on stock. Not much else is much cheaper but the quality of the meat/fish means the price of the annual membership is worth it for me.

    Stamps!

First class stamps are 5.2p cheaper than buying from the PO. They also stock large first class and second class stamps with similar savings.

They come in packs of 60 (10 x 6) so unless you do a lot of mailing then it's a lot to payout for occassional use.

I run an eBay business and make up the postage with first class stamps. The money I save on stamps for one month covers the cost of my annual membership fee.

Oh and their birthday cakes are delicious! The sponge, not the chocolate one, they are WAY too sickly. You get a massive cake for £11.99, just tucked into one I bought for my mums 40th yesterday :)

I only had a bit of money with me, but their meat looks lovely, 1kg of mince is £5.49 I think, and that works out about the same as supermarket, but the mince looks lovely, really fresh looking. Two pork joints for £8 I think, and their packs of topside beef slices which are £9.99 are gorgeous, you could have them as your sunday dinner with some roast potatoes veg and gravy.

    Mmmmm!

the best way to shop at costco would be to take advantage of the deals, bogof and money off coupons,i usually buy my dishwasher tabs, toilet paper, kitchen towels on these offers and they last me definitely over 6 months, also they have massive baked potatoes, pizza slices in their cafe, which is also mega cheap.
    :hello:
  • Never rated it when I was a member, rather stock up on supermarket deals when they're on.

I don't think it's fair to compare supermarkets to Costco. At Costco a lot of the stuff is premium stuff but in bulk. What you get out of Costco will very much depends on your household and what your needs.

The bulk aspect can be a problem but now I give half of a certain item away to my mum and dad.

Some things are cheap. They are a good place to pick up memory cards - not as cheap as online, but they're in your hand. We buy rice for £9.99, which is £14.99 in a Chinese supermarket. And 4 litres of Mobil 1 is £23ish or nearly £40 at Halfords!

I use COSTCO to get the free samples.

Mrs Advent stocks up on pop, dog food and washing powder. I don't think it is any cheaper than Tesco, but what do I know, being a man.

I really like costco but i do tend to buy in bulk and then split things with my family and friend so we are all happy. I find the complete dog food is a massive saving compared to tesco and the local pet shop. My mom bought some fresh salmon and cut it into six pieces for about £9.00, and popped it in the freezer, she said it was lovely but the pieces she cut were still too big!! I suppose its like anywhere you just have to watch what you buy and not get carried away.
