hi a few years ago i had a joint mortgage with my now ex husband. he did a runner leaving me with 2children at the time aged 3 and 5. i was a full time mum and had to find a job fast.i did but missed a few mortgaged payments and was charged £35 a month does anyone know if i can claim these back as it took me 2 years to pay the arrears and each month they went up by £35 even though i only missed 6months approx payments it took a while to catch up. i wrote and complained to the bank and they just sent me a hamper has anyone else experience problems like this and reclaimed the mortgage payments? had the same problem with a car loan would appriciate some advice

I have missed quite a few payments and been charged £35 each time and now have quite a debt owing that i am finding difficult to pay off, I was wondering the same if i can claim these charges back. Would appreciate if you have heard whether we can claim anything back. I presume it should be the same as the bank charges because they are unfair charges???0

These have far more success at reclaiming than overdraft charges. Mainly as they are packaged differently. However, there is a lot of pressure on the banks regarding these at the moment.
These charges have not been deemed unfair and are not being challenged at this time by any authority.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
