Hi all.
Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who helped me out in my hour of need the other week. I have now contacted my creditors and am sorting out payment arrangements with them. It's gonna be hard still, but better than it was, as my outgoings are now less than my incomings
Now I'm getting sorted, I wanted to start looking into other ways to possibly help me out, but have managed to screw myself up again ! d'OH ! :rotfl:
I have been looking at the pages for reclaiming bank charges, but can't figure out if this is something I can still do or whether the door has been shut on this particular avenue?
Also, I have been contacted by a company who say that can help out - but I'm a bit sceptical. This company told me that because my credit was taken out before April 2007, there is a 96% chance that i can have the balances written off as unenforceable because of mistakes in the credit agreements being drawn up at the time.
Now, they are offering to sort this out for me by getting permission to look at the last credit agreements I signed, finding whatever faults they are looking for and then telling the creditors that I do not have to pay either the whoole amount or the certain amount because of the faults in the agreements.
Sounds good? Mmm, bit too good.
The process is - you pay them, and then they look at the agreements separately. If one is not likely to work, they refund everything but £50 admin per "agreement consultation". And if one is likely to work - then they go ahead and there is this 96% success record ( apparently ).
Doesn't sound so good when they tell you its an upfront £495 fee for the first "agreement consultation", and £150 per subsequent one. So, for me, 5 credit cards and 4 catalogues, thats £1695 !!!
But then and again, if it saves me £7000 ish that my balances are at the moment .....
has anyone heard of this before? has anyone had a balance written off? Or this just another company trying to make more oney out of me that I haven't really got?
Thanks

There is a whole thread on these companies. read here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1733037 and employ a barge pole.
The sick thing is that if you run a search on CCA, you will find a whole mass of threads on here where people have done what these companies say thay will do, for themselves at a cost of £1 for a postal order and a registered letter. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks RAS !!!
Quick Question Though - Sounds Really Thick ...
Is this something I can do for myself? What would I look for?
Thanks

Send this letter, registered post, with either a fake signature or your name printed at the end.
They have 12 working days plus two days to return the CCA. Scan, minus personal data and any barcodes and post here. We can tell you if it includes the prescribed terms.
original CCA request letter request below.

I do not acknowledge any debt to your company.
With reference to the above, we would be grateful if you would send us a copy of this credit agreement, statement of account and notice of assignment.
We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), we are entitled to receive a copy of our credit agreement on request. We enclose a payment of £1.00 which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.
We understand a copy of our credit agreement should be supplied within 12 working days.
We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act creditors are unable to enforce an agreement if they fail to comply with a request for a copy of the agreement under these sections of the Act.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfullyIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
