Longstanding Arrears To Be Put On Back Burner

I have it on good authority that old cases will not be focused on to the same degree, they have been in the last 18 months.
The new enforcement team will be focusing almost exclusively on maintaining current cases and making sure that the cases under CSA2 are brought up to date. They have fallen well short of targets discussed in parliament and it is conceivable that the question of longstanding arrears will be written off. It was turned down a couple of years ago, but its just providing a mountain of work and they need to priortise and later in the year, expect them to write off a large figure.
This does not mean anyone caught up in the recent campaign on these cases and now paying up to 40% will be written off, its the ones that they have failed to trace will simply be archived/suspendid and be written off.
All cases on longstanding arrears chasing pre-2000 on old scheme cases have been done, with only minimal success and they will now priortise in other areas.

Seems unfair.....as usual its the ones who refuse to pay who are ' getting away ' without paying .....CSA really needed to focus on these is not fair to NRP's who pay for their children.0

true, but comes a point when it has to stop. Goverment bodies run on a profit and if it makes a loss or if its more profitable to focus on other areas they will do. A big push has taken place on these cases, and whilst money has been recouped, its nowhere near where forecast. Thats where the baulk of the money was to recoup as over many years totals/monies can be very significant. Most old cases were triggered when they reached £50,000 arrears and some others were not worked on for years. They will likely spin it, as politicians are very good at that, but thats what will happen
Focus will step up on current cases and more recent cases that need attention, this is going to start around September.0 -

It's not the NRPs currently paying that are complaining about it though, it's quite a 'clever' move by the authorities, claims will reduce as NRPs can pay £20 a week to shut some PWCs up

Yes but for those people who have been totally stitched up by the PWC its good news. Our PWC said my hubby had not paid her. It was a private agreement but figures worked out by the csa. I know for a fact we paid her every week but were naive enough to trust her. we paid cash in hand every week. When she contacted the CSA they worked figures out to over £5k arrears even though the daughter wrote a letter to the csa and told them we had given her the money every week and passed this money to her mother. We obviously fought our corner but in the words of the PWC "We had no proof!!!"
I hope this happens as then she will not win this war and we can get on with our lives without this huge cloud over our head, as the PWC seems to like opening and closeing this case at will just to upset us again. One minute she will ring the csa and say we dont owe it her then she will ring back the next week and say to the csa that she did not ring the previous week and they are lying. Im sure the csa must now have cottoned on to her little game as we have now not heard anything from the csa for months (touch wood)
I feel for the people who are genuinely owed arrears, but for people like us it will be a god send.0 -
You also have to remember the state of the national economy! If the people that owe thousands of pounds, are forced to take out loans or the like to cover these payments. Yes the CSA will be reaching its targets, no problems, but if these loans can't be serviced then the loan becomes part of the 'Toxic Debt' as it will be part of an IVA or bankrupsy, that is where the prob is!
OK I hear all the PWC that are trying to distroy their ex's new lives saying great go for it serves the bas***d right. This debt however will have to be met by the tax payer, that is the ones of us that work and pay tax as the gov will have to bail out more banks. It sounds like the gov has finally cottoned on to this as I stated on a previous thread after my meeting in London with the Shadow Sec of State for DWP, he was and has taken this point forward in the House! The gov has to balance the books some time!0 -
This is really good news for all of those caught up in the middle of alleged arrears battles.
Do we think that they will start to 'ease up' on these battles now that they are being told to focus their efforts elsewhere and maybe even conceded defeat when their lies are being highlighted to them over and over again??
And, what about the 'mangement steer' to collect outstanding debts within a 2years timeframe, does anybody know/think that this will be relaxed on cases such as where they admit that (alleged) arrears are due to mistakes of their own doing?"And crawling on the planet's face,
Some insects called the human race,
Lost in time, and lost in space,
And meaning"0 -

I'm trying to sort out arrears at the moment.3 1/2 years worth have been put on me because the csa didnt carry out a re-assessment when asked too.
Was the assessment asked for back then?Who bloody knows.
Will i be paying this money back within 2 years? No way.
I will be in debt because of the csa, because they can't do there job right.0 -
Wonder if this might help us, CSA say we now owe in excess of 40k in arrears , but we just at point of attendeing Tribunal to provide our evidence that the calculation was totally incorrect and an utter load of rubbish.
We are stretched financially as it is, and my hubs NRP already has an IVA, so if CSA slap arrears on him, we understand this can also go into IVA unless we fill in form N245??? I think at County Court for the CCJ, then hope the Judge will let him pay at affordable rate.
Sounds as if for those CSA tipping over the brink financially and sending into poverty this may at last be common sense stepping in.0 -
CSA arrears can NOT be included in an IVA or BR0
-
As I understand it Form N245 puts the amount that you have to pay to your arrears in the lap of the Court. They will look at all of your finances and then decide on what payments that you can be asked for. Once this has been done there is nothing that the CSA can do about it, end of!0
