Leather coat smells musty. Any advice please

Options
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but as a newbie, I am still working my way around the site!

I brought a lovely vintage full length leather coat from a charity shop. A bargain at only a fiver! But it smells really musty. I hang it outside most days to get a good old fashioned dose of fresh air through it and although it is starting to smell a bit better, the musty smell hasn't gone completely.

Has anyone any top tips or advice that might help to get rid of the smell.

Thanks:rotfl:

I would mix equal parts salt and bicarb and sprinkle it in the bath (DRY bath!!) then lay the coat on it. Sprinkle more on then leave it overnight. Next day, put it on the line and give it a good beating!

If it still smells musty try it again but turn the coat inside out first. And try finding a mint plant (shouldn't be hard it grows like wild fire) and break off the leaves, put them in the coat and leave it for a day or so.
