Hi
I've receievd a letter today from a debt collection agency asking for payment of £17.99 within 10 days on behalf of Orange Home Services.
Having never heard of Orange Home Services and having no idea what this was about I rang the DCA to find out and was asked if I'd had broadband with a number of companies back in 2006!
I said I had been with Wanadoo back then and the chap then told me that several broadband firms had been bought out by Orange including Wanadoo back in '06 and they were now clearing up the backlog of settlements! He then asked how I was going to pay!! Guess what my answer was?!
I have no idea when we left Wanadoo as its that long since but have never had any letter from any broadband company stating that we owed anything so this is a real surprise.
I have no way of proving that we owe this (all be it small amount) but can they suddenly demand this out of the blue?
Cheers
Mark

Experts will be along shortly but it is up to them to prove that you owe the debt, not vice versa.
Good luck0 -
