To Treat Or Not To Treat, That Is The Question?

In a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I have been selling Avon for the last 3 weeks and have my first bit of comission of £82 after expenses.
Now the reason for doing this was to pay our debt off quicker, but my husband says I should use it to treat myself. With 2 young children, as most mums know it is hard to treat yourself when the kids always come first.
So do I use it to pay the debt off quicker or treat myself? Any ideas

Hi Peppa,
I agree that it would be lovely to treat yourself but also would be lovely to see those balances reducing!
Could you do half and half or two thirds on debts, one third on you?
If you do do this, get something you REALLY want.
Let us know what you decide!

Well if it were me I would award myself some of it, but not all of it. Not sure what sort of treat do you mean though..?
Perhaps a beauty treatent or a nice bottle of wine or a trip to the cinema....?
I think if you pay some towards a debt plus be creative with what you award yourself, you will feel pretty good about yourself.
I wouldn't blow it all on one thing personally...I would try and be a really smart spender and eek out as much as possible with what I awarded myself.
Hope that makes sense!
Well done on making the commission though! :TBank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Why not do both.
Keep half use the other half towards bills. Thats what I would do.
You earned it treat yourself.0 -
Why not use half to treat yourself and the put the other half towards your debt.
That way you get to do both.
As a certain supermarket says. Every little helps.

Id pay the debt off entirely with it... I dont think I deserve treats just yet, not making the inroads I expected to, but maybe thats just me!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Wow thanks all, some great replies so far, don't stop posting. I was thinking on similar lines that maybe I should use half for the debt and half for me. The treat I was thinking about was a breadmaker, so not entirely for myself, and I will look around for the best deal of course. As this comission should come to me every 3 weeks, hopefully if it keeps going this well, I will maybe just use a third for a treat and two thirds for the debt.

If you go for the breadmaker and go for a new one, don't forget to check if you can get some money back somewhere by ordering online via Quidco or wherever!
And if you do get the b.maker - you'll save money in the long run not having to buy shop made bread! Win win!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Great idea, however...
Remember your OH wanted you to get something for YOU though to treat yourself. A breadmaker is really practical and a great idea but maybe a lippie or some nice body lotion or anything else small that would take your fancy as well?

Dont be so hard on yourself. You deserve a treat. After all you are trying to sort out your debt. Give your self a small treat sometimes and a large pat on the back0 -
Thanks scottishspendaholic, I will look at getting the breadmaker as moneysaving as possible suggested by Lookingahead, then get a little something for myself. Rest goes to the debt.
