i have worked JCP for years treat everybody as you would want to be treated yourself. have a sense of humour. You will come across difficult customers some have no intention of getting a job and will give you a hard time, give it back by using the regulations laid down thats what your there to do but in a matter of fact way dont pull rank. others are frustrated, feel dejected, self esteem shattered and unfortunately they dont want to be in the office, their life has fallen apart, and they may come across as difficult but chat to them and they may open up to you which is then easier to give them advice, but dont become their counsellor (i tend to refer them here if they need advice on moneysaving, bank charges, etc and dont want to approach formal organisations) Dress code is no denim, combats, tshirts but really depends on manager (if you're unemployed just now and dont have suitable clothing ask at the jobcentre for Adviser Discretion Fund for clothing or fares for your first wee while until you get paid - non repayable) As for Salary i think its around £15750 starting. And remember it can be a rewarding job its like any job you get out of it what you put in and 99.9% of the customers are great. Good Luck and well done for getting through the interview:T

  • Thanks for all the advice. Its really appreciated as im sure you can imagine its a bit daunting doing something very different to occupations i have had before but im assuming i passed the interview because i appeared to have something to offer so i'll just see how it goes.
  • Hi all,I am just writing with a question for you, I have recently been accepted and given a start date for a band c executive officer role within the dwp. I am concerned with whether or not the employers will ask me to leave because I have a 4 mm hole in each ear lobe (sign of a mis spent youth). I would be grateful if you could get back to me asap with some idea as to acceptable appearance within the department.
