Moss Bros

I thought i'd post this incase people are thinking about using Moss Bros....

The service we received in the run up to the wedding was appauling. When we ordered, we were told that the outfits would come in 2 weeks before the wedding so they had plenty of time to sort them out if different sizes were needed etc, however, they came in on the Monday afternoon before the wedding.

When I say they came in, parts of them did, we had no cravats, some of the outfits never had trousers with them, we found this out after sitting there for an hour waiting to get into the fitting rooms, and it was really hot which didn't help the stress levels.

There were 3 other groups in there at the same time and they ALL had problems with their outfits, wrong sizes, wrong colours etc. No one walked out happy.

The shirts they provide are really ill fitting, in most cases where the neck fit, the rest of the shirt was miles too big so half of the party has to wear their top button open to avoid looking like a clown in a shirt that was miles too big.

The cravats and extra trousers didn't come in til the Wednesday, and I couldn't collect til the Thursday, not a great scenario when you get married on the Saturday, I dred to think what it would have been like if stuff was wrong again.

They all looked fab on the day, but I would say that its not worth the hassle in the run up, not when you are paying a fair bit for the suits. I'd say avoid if you can!

  • Thanks for the heads up on these, looks like too much hassle and one to avoid!
  • It may have just been bad experience at our shop.... I think in the run up to our wedding they were busy with school proms etc as well which increased orders, more orders = more scope to get it wrong!

I hope it all goes smoothly for you, must stress that everything was fine in the end!!

I was thinking about using Moss Bros for the hire of our wedding suits, and this puts a different light on it. Maybe it was just a local shop issue? If so, was it a shop in Devon?

Has anyone else had problems with Moss Bros?

    Hi,

We are booked with the Moss Bros in Liverpool and I have been very impressed so far. They have been excellent with our queries and always happy. It may all change when we pick up the suits but so far very happy with everything

We also used Moss Bros (Bradford) and they too were awful!!! I was calling them from Monday, Tuesday and even Wed morning, and they were just constantly telling me that they would call me back. They finally called me at 3.30 on Weds to say that they were ready and my parents whizzed straight in to get them. When they got them home, all of the cravats were missing, the groom didnt have a waistcoat, the ushers pants were too tight, the grooms shirt was too tight, we were missing a hankie. Truly awful.

Had to whizz there on the Thursday to collect the missing stuff (along with a million other things to do) and what made it worse was that Moss Bros knew exactly what was missing so they sent us away knowing that we didnt have everything the day before. The wedding was Friday, it really added to the stress!

They are def one to be avoided.

    HTH

(Ps - I too was impressed with them before we had to pick anything up as they seemed good before that! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news lol)

  • Have to say we had a really good experience of them and I was quite nervous since we had our wedding party sending in measurements from all over the country.

I use a wedding forum and there are many complaints about Moss Bros on it. A friend who got married a couple of years ago used them, and I have to say the quality of the suit was really quite appalling, you could see it was all bobbly fabric in places! It was too late to do anything about it though.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o
