Yellow stain on new jeans!! Am so sad...

Hello,

Don't come over here much, as I am a Debt free wannabe (almost debt free).

Anyhow...I brought a new pair of pale pink summer jeans last week, wore them once, washed them, got them out the washing machine and theres a big yellow/brown stain on the back?? I have no idea what it is. It looks like rust, or maybe like curry ? I really have no idea. It does look very strong though (ie: ground in).

I have tried rewashing with Vanish, but this did not work at all. What can I do?

I am so sad. I never get any new clothes and really looked forward to getting them. Please cheer me up. boo hoo.

Try soaking them in some soda crystal. I usually fiond this helps dislodge stains. There's also the Mega Index Plenty of tips on stain removal, you might find something to help.

What about trying that oxy-clean type of stuff. Worked great on red wine stains on cream top the other week - came up good as new.

A few 'Ace' tablets in with the wash gets most things clean - they were on special in Asda for 50p a box a while a go, but they are usually £1.99 ish. I don't think Vanish works that well for ground in stains.

If you don't remember getting the stain, could it be your washing machine at fault? I had one that left kind of burn / bleach looking stains on clothes and eventually I had to get a new machine.

I`d suggest drying the jeans first and then applying Oil of Eucalytpus( available for chemists) it wont make the stain worse but is quite likely to remove it.. Then wash again as usual. Good luck.

Sounds a bit like a burn ,if it doesnt come out, could you possibly sew a nice patch over the stain?
You can buy ready made patches in fabric shops.

If it is a food stain, try hanging it in the sun.

When my daughter was little she got orange juice on a pale pink dress. I though it was ruined but did not want to consign it to the rubbish bin while wet in case it smelt. I hung it on the line on a hot sunny day and when I brought it in, the stain had completely gone.
  • Thanks soooo much. What a lot of ideas. It doesn't look like a burn, but it is a bit weird. It's on the back of the calf as well, I don't know how I wold have got food back there?? I think I'm just going to start at the top and work down, so soda crystals it is.

Will let you know how I get on.
