Please Help: I've deleted all my work doing a system restore.

I did a system restore last night in an attempt to iron out a few minor problems I'd been having, under the impression that it wouldn't cause me to lose any of my saved excel spreadsheets. After the restore I found that the folder on my desktop containing all my spreadsheets had gone. I then undid the restore only to find that, although the folder had returned, all it's contents had vanished.

Please tell me there's something I can do?!!
