  • Yes SH, subscribed a few months ago. Am following your job hunt with interest.

I am on the same trail but there is nothing, and I mean nothing, around here. I fear I am going to have to look further afield. Nearest job worthy towns are 15 miles away, that means petrol. When I lived in London, there were jobs, trams, buses and trains ! But then there were more downsides.

I have no idea what the day has planned for me, loads to do after a very lazy day yesterday. Perhaps tea and a browse through the diaries first.

Would it be so bad if you actually had a lovely lazy weekend?

  • No rumblings from two mini men yet, so peace is still evident, dog hasn't even woken up.

I am in credit (about the only place in the whole worls that I am!) with the OU after dropping out of a course last year. Today I will choose a 10 pointer to kick start my degree again. I have no idea which direction I want to go in though, so I really need to read the small print.

So Egg decide to up my interest rate to 26.49%, not happening. I've told 'em where to stick it. This would have made it my second highest APR, So it's going, cancelled and cut up. Feels good. It's still at 21.49% but I'm not being bullied anymore.

There's a positive start to the day. Hmmph !

Spent the last 48 hours number crunching and looking at budgets. Really have had my blinkers on again recently.
I need to up my income by at least £250 a month if I want to make the overpayments. Big challenge as I always fail on groceries.
I know I'm going over the same old ground as I have earlier in my diary, but eventually it will sink in. It will....

Morning DC yes I know how you feel, I also have spent the last few days number crunching, as with you groceries, I have recently started shopping more so at asda and have noticed the difference however popped into tesco this morning and still managed to spend £70 just on a few bits that I needed to stock up on amazed. will be shopping most definatley at asda more so in future.

Again have been padding all week to and this month I have managed extra pads on top of monthly payments it has a taken a while to sink in but in the end it will.
do you really need that much extra each month? what about ebay etc? or maybe there may be something that you have missed that could be revised or just keep you overpayments smaller I have and it has certainly made the difference this month I didn't think it did but it has an extra few pounds here and there.

    Hi DC,

I did exactly the same thing about 6 months ago when that happened to me:mad:. And you are right ... it does feel good.

PS I haven't forgotten the book just have not managed to get to the Post office yet
  • Thanks Girls.

Ruby, out here in the sticks our nearest biggest supermarket is Morrisons, which I loathe, shopping there is so stressful, (apologies to any Morrisons staff) but there's always a gridlock of trolleys/promotions/produce in cages stuck in the middle of nowhere, so I do a Tesco's home delivery. But I pass a small Waitrose everyday and it's my downfall for topping up. (But their essentials range is actually on a par with the big guys and quailty is better)

Enough about my views on the drudgery of supermarket pros and cons.

    40sm, please don't hurry :)

Letter in the post today, didn't make it to the interview stage for a much wanted job. Ah well, not meant to be.

Work was total pants today and the fallout will be felt on Monday. Ugh.
Still it's the weekend and I'm going to be proactive. Even if it's just a little decluttering/ebay listing.
