Don't count those chickens! Microsoft and Amazon presented nasty results Thursday night, both down >8% in after-hours trading. Today'll be interesting

Agree with the above post.
Also remember share prices are heavily influenced by speculation, though I would agree it is a good sign, fingers crossed...
Just do what you can to make sure your not in extra dodgy position. Also, I have heard speculation that some more trouble may just be brewing in the financial sector... though I rather be vague in case they what I say proves wrong and it leads to yet more trouble.
As for Microsoft and Amazon, Amazon I not sure about, but Microsoft share drop I would say is more down to some of their recent monumental cockups rather than recession, so don't take that as general indicator of what will happen in the rest of the economy! Namely the state of inital releases, and their proposals for Windows 7 Upgrade pricing and conditions, which I think are plain stupid.0 -

FTSE 250 7926.80 +39.29 +0.5%
London Stocks Off Highs After GDP Disappoints
0843 GMT [Dow Jones] FTSE 100 +0.5% at 4580.36, off the intraday high of
4603.2 following the release of UK GDP data which contracts more than expected in the second quarter. A trader says, "comments this week from the likes of Charles Bean at the Bank of England suggested that 2Q GDP was going to be worse than expected - some of this disappointment has already been factored in....It does however put the choker on the notion that the UK economy is out of its rut."Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

Financial sector is very broad. HSBC and Standard Chartered have traded on with hardly a mention in the press during the past 9 months.
Not everyone took excessive risks. Goldman Sachs took a look at the securisation market and decided it wasn't for them. So ignore the headlines and do some research. Good companies in any sector will weather the storm and potentially do well as there competitors fail.0 -
Interesting opposing views on Radio four this morning at about 8:30am. The positive guy sounded embarrassed, which I think is a shame as th words, if not the delivery, were convincing.0

It's obviously good for a lot of people.
Thing is, can it last? The guy on the BBC didn't seem to think so, but we'll see!0
