I 'phoned Northern Rock today and asked how much it would cost to settle the unsecured loan. They quoted £8,693.18, which is £2533 less than we would pay if we carried on for the next 8 and a bit years.
Also 'phoned our local building society, and asked what the current rate was on the ISA products we have actually are. Was somewhat shocked to learn that the rate is currently only 0.6%!! These ISAs were 'market leading' a few years ago, and surprise surprise, now they are far from it.
So, we will root out the passbooks and pay a visit!Moving house - more debt - bigger house0 -
Two milestones today!!
Cleared funds on cashing in of the ISAs, and paid off the Northern Rock Loan in full, saving over £2,000 in interest in the next 8 years! Only in debt to one organisation now....
OK that is the Nationwide and the mortgage BUT - the other milestone - Nationwide mortgage debt goes under £75K - only £74980 left to pay, and currently reducing by over £800/mo at current rate of overspend
