Majority of shopping is done - apart from DS1 and DS2 and bits for hampers for a couple of family members- I tend to shop all year round.
Food wise I tend to stick to the normal weekly budget, buying bits and bobs in the run up, then hide them under the stairs so no-one can find them and eat them. Don't think we have any traditions, usually get a family game for the Wii and chill out after lunch playing on it.0 -

You may not believe this, but my MIL invited herself to Christmas lunch back in April. My SIL could not believe it, as she and her partner, had also been 'invited' by MIL.
My OH has been talking about the menu ever since, as he cooks Christmas lunch (I have the day off).:D0 -

Lalalalalala - I can't hear you
It's the first week of the school holidays - I'm intending to thoroughly enjoy that before wishing it were winter
You'll get more responses over on the Special Occasions Board, so I'll move you over
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Yes. We're all going to my parents' place, Husband will be cooking. All my gifts are bought, not wrapped yet, and gifts from him to my family will need buying but closer to the time is fine. All I need to remember to do is buy wine in mid-November, and since the supplier I use always sends me a friendly reminder everything is wonderful.
Most of the gifts I've bought are already at their place, so I will spend the guts of an afternoon wrapping presents (my plan is to buy five different colours of gift wrap so I don't have to faff about with labels) and then it will all be organised. Hurrah!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -

I'm not doing too bad on the present front. Getting lots in the sales, infact I've not bought one thing at full price yet
As for food - well I tend to make a lot of homemade goodies such as cookies/mince pies etc etc.
We're planning on staying at home for Christmas lunch (usually go to my mums - a few miles away) but in 7 years of OH and myself being together we've never done Christmas our way. Plus with our little boy now a little bit older it'd be nice to do things our way! Hoping my mum and teenage sisters will come over for a Christmas day tea though.
Does anyone know when is best to start making mince pies to freeze? Is it too early??0 -
Evil, evil thread.

I've started shopping in the past few weeks, picked up a few bits and bobs for hampers. Don't have to worry about getting food in as I go to my parent's for Christmas, although it's sort of a tradition for me to make the mince pies
For food my mam will get all the stuff for Christmas dinner, and then buffet type snacky food for Christmas night and boxing day so nice ham, that gorgeous cheese with cranberries in, breadsticks etc so she doesn't have to cook. And of course there's always millions of chocolates and biscuits.
If you browse the celebrations board, especially the Organised for Christmas thread, you'll see that loads of people have been buying presents and starting to plan since January
