You could always just get a gift voucher, we stopped buying other people DVD's as it was so hard trying to get one not knowing if they already had it or not.

Plus they can also get one they really really want.

Now what we do is get a gift voucher, a little cheap box ususally recycled and cover it in birthday paper (or xmas papaer) add a few bags of popcorn and a few packs of sweeties and turn it into a movie hamper. Depending on your budget of course, for more special relatives we include a few bottles of beer too.

Another idea is to get them to write you a long list (the older ones) and pick a few off the list, they get DVD's that they want but as it's a long list they wont know exactly which ones till they open them. This also allows you to be very MSe and get the cheaper ones on the list.

I have to do a similar list for my MIL as she knows i read dean koontz books so i write her a list of the ones i havent got and she picks me one.
