debt collector at the door

theres a debtcollector that has come to my home a couple of times who ive ignored. I thought about asking my mum to tell him i dont live there anymore and she doesnt know where i live. Somebody said he will then check the electoral register. would it be worth me removing my name from the register as i have never voted and obviously i cannot make my credit history any worse than what it is.
Im currently saving up my BR fees and dont want this hassle in the meantime. i know i could write them a letter telling them to stop sending door collectors without an appointment but would prefer to remove my name from a list which has no benefit to me. Also is the electoral register checked when you apply to rent a flat?

Debt collectors have about as much rights as the paper boy. if you feel intimidated phone the police and dont open the door talk to them through a window. Dont let them frighten you.
As re saving for your BR dont inform them of that they will just step up the pressure on you, tell them you are consulting debt charities and taking advice from them0 -
Hi,
As Devon27 has said, tell them you are seeking advice from the CBA. How long till you can get the fees together? I have kept mine of my back for a year now. When they I just tell them that the appts at the CAB are 6, 7, 8 weeks away with the current climate, then appt was cancelled etc. Now I tell them I have appt on Mon & I will be in touch - after I've been to court for my br....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:BSC 289A life lived in fear is a life not living!Proud to have dealt with my debts.0 -
