Is this a realistic SOA for starting uni?

Monthly is not 4 weekly no.

There are 365 days in a year which divided by 7 days gives 52 weeks.
    52 weeks divided by 12 month = 4.33 weeks in a month.

So there are 13 x 4 week periods in a year
but 12 months in a year.

So if you confuse the 2 you are not comparing like with like.
So you get 13 pay packets and only 12 mobile bills in a year, and possibly from the sounds of it only 12 rent payments per year.
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"

A calendar month last from 28 days to 31 days - or 4.333 weeks on average.

It actually sounds like you pay mum every 4 weeks? So that is £150 every 4 weeks or £162.38 per calender month.

That's a shame. Will your friend still be able to stay in the flat if you don't move in? How much closer is it to uni than your mum's place?

anyway i have decided to stay at home...thanks for all the advice everyone. I think i am much better staying here while i can and trying to make a dent in the debts before i move out on my own!

Guess i better sort out an SOA for staying at home then, and see how much i can throw at debts every month then!!

aha I missed this amongst all of the other stuff. Probably a very wise decision :) you can always move in with your friend when you get a job after you graduate.

I doubt it, but to be honest thats not really my problem is it...i mean shes my best friend and i love her to bits, but i just can't afford it at the moment.

So i think she'll be looking for a wee 1 bed flat soon :(

I think it is much better for her to do that than for you two to share and then you struggle to contribute your full share or have to pay late and affect her credit record or relationship with the land lord.

Then you might lose your friend as well. Essentially much more grown up and realsitic.

A wee 1 bed flat sounds alright and you'll still be able to visit :-)

Good luck with paying off those debts and with the course!!!
