Help with mortgage

Hi
Any help would be appreciated.
My husband and I have been self employed for 6 years and have 6 years books. On average we earn £35,000 gross. With our business we have a lot of travelling costs up to £18,000 a year leaving us about £17,000 profit.
We really want to give up the business and I am employed as a trainee nursery nurse annual income of £7000. My husband is currently looking for other work.
We currently rent and would desperately want to have our own house. we were quoted 5years ago that we would need 10% deposit because we were self employed. Does this still apply if I am both employed and self employed?
Whats the best way to get a mortgage, who with? how much deposit now?
Many thank
Cheryl
p.s Our business is an illusion act, getting tired of all the travelling

Take a look around this-

My view is that you need to discuss this with a broker-
Hope this helps
SSI am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0
