House Of Fraser - Bought shirt, want to return but can't find receipt?

I bought a shirt today in the sales, got home and changed my mind (I change my mind often :P) Looked through my jean pockets, wallet, bag, inside the shirt and couldn't find the receipt. It's either they forgot to give me one, or that I accidentally threw it away or whatever.

Is there any way I can return it without a receipt? I paid by cash too so I guess it makes tracking the purchase harder? Or would they have a list of sales saved in their system?

yes if there is tag or same item somewhere u can exchange it. Or if you take a bank statement some places will refund you I done that in Miss Selfridge but don't know if this apply to HOF. It should be ok within 28 days if not exchange at current price

What the store can do -and its only if they are mega bored and have the time and staff to do this, is to look back on CCTV cameras to watch when you bought the item. But you have to know more or less the exact time (within 10 minutes) so they don't have to trawl through hours of the item being bought.

We used to do this in a store I used to work in when we were bored and it was something like a tuesday morning when there would be three customers in the entire store! Gave the dept. manager something to do.

Should I just call the store up in advance so they're aware I'm returning this and to avoid the 'did you just pick that up from the shelf?!'
