Voucher exchange idea?

Options
Hi,

Just an idea how we could be saving a few pennies over the time.
Some of us are filling surveys in for various companies, but are paid in vouchers.
I understand that some of us would prefer to get their rewards in cash rather than spending it in Argos, HMV, Amazon, etc so that they can cover the bills or other (un)important expenditures.
While others are happy to get vouchers so that they can go and get what they were looking for from either shop or online.
So wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a special sub-board for some sort of voucher exchanges (voucher for voucher of the same value but for different retailers, or voucher for cash)?
It appears to me as a mutually beneficial situation:
I need something from place A, but have a voucher for place B so why not swap it with someone who’s in need of what I got and at the same time has what I’m after.
Or somebody is planning to buy goods of Amazon, Argos, etc. and would love to get a discount on their purchase. Unfortunately there’re hardly any discount codes (well, few and far between) for let’s say Amazon and would love to get any discount to save a few pounds. And if I have such voucher and am willing to part with it for £xx, because I can find a better use for cash rather than vouchers themselves, then why not? I would be happy with cash or other voucher and whoever swapped with me can get what they want for a lower effectively price.
Any thoughts about such idea?

I’ve gone through the previous threads on this (and others as well) board, but couldn’t find the right place to offer “vouchers I got, but not intending to use them and would rather swap for some extra cash that could help my budget” ;)

Cheers.

Although it seems like a good idea if you look at it like that, you have got to realise that some members of this forum would love to get their hands on freebies whether it's a free voucher or anything really, and some of these people I'd say [from looking around the boards] are really cunning and can easily con you. E.g. there's a mutual agreement between Person A and B, however when it get's to the exchange, e.g. swapping an amazon voucher for an argos one, how would you know whether the person has already redeemed their amazon gift voucher or not? You wouldn't. There has got to be some level of trust before people even consider it really.

Apologies for expresing an idea which seems to be in breach with this forum rules.
I have come across a few people on this board who'd prefer to swap vouchers for cash and thought this might be of interest to others (as it saves money for both parties I think).
Obviously there needs to be some level of trust before it's given a green light, no doubt about it.
    Thank you for your comments.
  • also its possible to sell your vouchers on ebay and that actually has some sort of legal coverage and protection. personally i'd rather do it via ebay than on forums...

ebay does not offer protection when selling vouchers (go to ebay board, do a search cos someone posted about this recently n they sold £50 amazon voucher)

the only way ebay offer protection is if you physically post the voucher to the buyer, do not do it via email
  • ah cheers I didn't know that, i suppose you could print out the email and then post it via mail? That would cover it wouldn't it.

    I guess it would.
But you need to send it via recorded delivery + eBay's selling fee and it's hardly worth the trouble.
