I don't understand your comment about "covering £100,000 on top of what we already owe them". You should not be able to borrow ANY more than your present mortgage balance, on the original terms.
I'm assuming that the £100,000 is wrong and should be more like £10,000. Woolwich have what they call a Mortgage Current Account which allows you to borrow more money as part of your initial agreement although the interest rate is usually the SVR rather than any special deal. I would guess that the original question refers to borrowing under this facility.
Cheers

I do have the offset current account that you speak of, and the £100k is in addition to the borrowing facility I have on that of £7k, and even that is only charged at the mortgage interest rate at the time, which is currently BBR + 0.99%.
Saying this, My broker and I have both called Barclays on 6 different occasions and have been told varying stories of what they will lend us and on what basis, but this specific item has always been the same.
The one thing that has changed which is VERY annoying is the fact that they say they will now only lend us 80% ltv rather than 85%. This extra 5% is £15k to us, so it's a big deal. The first person I spoke to got the details wrong, but the information she gave us had given us a green light to persue a part exchange deal which now looks likely to fall through because of their incompetence. Have filed a complaint with them, not that it will make any difference, but I feel I need to do it because of the stress and upset they have caused me and my husband.0
