I have been using one of these for a long time now, mine has been modified and is concealed in the dashboard with a connection to a boosted strip aerial on the top of the windscreen. I always get a locked signal in seconds. As a system it works to a degree and has at times told me correctly that an earlier incident that is still showing on the signs as long delays is only a minor delay now - avoiding wasteful detours. Be careful though if your route passes through a long standing roadwork section they tend to just transmit a blanket worst case delay (a guess!) which TomTom adds to the journey time. Its not unusual for a non existent 3 hour delay to be added to your journey which magically disappears after you have sailed through the roadworks without any delay!
